Octavio has been a resident in the United Kingdom for several years, but was born during the mid 1960's in Setubal, Portugal, a city 25 kilometres south-west of Lisbon.

He grew up during a period of radical social and political change including the 1973 "Revolution of the Carnation" that ended years of dictatorship and marked the birth of democracy.

Geographically, Portugal is a country of outstanding natural beauty that embraces a rich vibrant culture. Octavio's strong roots in Portugal; his travels; and time spent in different continents - together with his natural ability at broad spatial thinking - collectively influence his work.
